A cleft lip nose (cleft lip nasal deformity) is not simply a matter of a wide-looking ala.
As the nose forms along with a cleft lip or palate, the position and shape of the alar cartilage, the septum and the soft tissue around the ala often settle differently on each side. That is why one ala may look lower and wider, or the tip may seem to lean to one side.
We do not just smooth the visible asymmetry. The position and structure of the cartilage, and its balance with the lips and face, are adjusted together.
