The nasal tip is the most delicate area in shaping your facial impression.

Even the same complaint, "I don't like my nasal tip", can have very different causes.

It shows up in many forms: a blunt tip from thick skin and fat, a broad tip from splayed alar cartilage, or a tip that droops or turns up because its height and support are low.

Why

Why is tip rhinoplasty not simple excision or reduction?

The tip approach depends on the cause

Thick skin and fat, alar cartilage that has developed and splayed, a tip that is low in itself, and a tip that droops or turns up are all different, and many people have several causes at once. Treating them all the same way can press the tip down, make it asymmetric, or lead to recurrence such as drooping again over time.

Tip cartilage support and angle both matter

Removing too much cartilage can make the tip look pinched and unnatural, or weaken support so it spreads or droops again. On the other hand, strengthening support alone can make the tip look artificially upturned, so the degree of narrowing, the support structure and the rotation angle must be considered together.

Facial proportions must be considered too

Even with the same tip concern, whether we refine only the tip or design it together with the alae and bridge can change with bridge height, alar width, nasolabial angle and skin thickness.

Recovery

Right after treatment
There is swelling and bruising; the nasal splint stays on and cold compresses are used.
During recovery
The splint and stitches are removed. While the main swelling subsides, avoid pressure on the nose such as from glasses.
As it settles
As residual swelling in the tip subsides, the final shape appears.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it work even if the skin on my tip is thick?

It varies from person to person. A nasal tip can look bulbous for several reasons, such as skin and fat thickness, splayed alar cartilages or low tip height. We look at each cause separately and choose the suitable method among tissue refinement and cartilage correction or grafting.

Where does the cartilage come from?

It is mainly taken from your own cartilage, such as septal or ear cartilage, to build the structure that supports the nasal tip. Which cartilage to use is decided based on the amount needed and the condition of the nose.

Where will the scar be?

For the nose, scars are mostly inside the nostrils or on the columella, and we manage them so they fade over time.
