Many people assume it is simply age.

In reality, though, it is often not the lid that has stretched but the brow that has dropped and now covers the eye.

In this condition double eyelid surgery alone may not solve the problem, and it can even look less natural.

Bonita defines the following as the stage at which the eye's structure has changed.

  • Descent of the brow: With age, the retaining ligaments around the forehead and brows loosen, narrowing the distance between eye and brow.
  • Hooding of the outer eyelid: Sagging eyelid skin hangs heavily over the outer corner, making the face look heavy and tired.
  • Forehead muscle compensation: The forehead is unconsciously tensed to lift drooping eyelids, deepening the horizontal lines.

Brow lift, How we improve it

A brow lift does not pull the eyelid itself; skin above the brow is excised to raise the brow back to its proper position.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is it different from double eyelid surgery?
A Brow Lift removes skin above the eyebrow to raise the brow back to its original position. If the eyes are hooded because the brows have descended, a double eyelid line alone may still leave a heavy feeling.
Will the brow lift scar be visible?
Over time it is hidden by the brow and becomes less visible, because the incision follows the border just above the brow.
How long is recovery?
When stitches come out and how long swelling lasts depend on the surgical method. If you have important plans, tell us during consultation and we will plan around them.
